MORGANTOWN FIBER GUILD BY-LAWS
Adopted 2/87 (revised 2/09)

NAME
The name of the organization shall be Morgantown Fiber Guild.
MISSION
The mission of the Guild shall be to provide encouragement and education to those persons interested in fiber arts,
especially spinning and weaving; and to heighten public awareness of both historical and contemporary uses of
fiber arts.
MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility: Membership is open to any person 16 years of age or older
who is interested in furthering the mission of the Guild.
Dues: Annual dues of $10.00 shall be paid each
March.
Voting rights: Each member shall have voting rights.
Active membership: A member shall be considered active if she/he
participates in at least one Guild function per year, such as
hosting a meeting, writing an article for the newsletter, participating
in a Guild demonstration, offering a program, etc.
OFFICERS
Officers: A president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer shall be the elected officers of the Guild. These
members, plus the newsletter editor, shall comprise the executive committee. (The president may appoint
additional members to the executive committee, as needed.)
Election: Officers shall be elected at the
November meeting each year and shall take office in December.
Replacement: Officers who fail to appear at three consecutive meetings shall be replaced by a member selected
by a vote of members present.
Duties:
President: shall lead the Guild toward fulfilling its mission, preside at all Guild meetings, and appoint
committees as needed.
Vice-president: shall assume the office of president in the absence of the president. And shall assume
other duties incidental to the office as designated by the president.
Secretary: record proceedings of each meeting of the Guild for the minutes and newsletter; shall maintain
and record changes in the by-laws; and shall send any correspondence, as directed by the
president.
Treasurer: shall collect dues and maintain and accurate record of all receipts and disbursements of
Guild funds; shall present a written financial statement at the December and May meetings.
MEETINGS
Meetings shall be the third Wednesday of each month, or as called by the President.
VOTING
Agreement of a majority of the members present shall be required for passage of motions and election of officers.
AMENDMENTS
The by-laws shall be reviewed annually at the November meeting. Changes may be made upon agreement of a majority
of the members present.
EQUIPMENT RENTALS
Eligibility: Active members in good standing may rent Guild-owned equipment, such as looms, drum carder,
etc.
Fees: Rental fees will be set by the Guild in
March.
DISSOLUTION
Upon dissolution of the Guild, all of the Guild’s debts shall be paid and remaining funds shall be given to a
charitable organization approved by a majority of members present at the final Guild meeting.
GENERAL GUILD INFORMATION

Unless otherwise noted, the meetings will start promptly at
7:30 PM with Guild business, with the program to
follow. Refreshments and “visiting” will start at 7:00 PM.

Dues are $10.00 and Due in March.

Some Guild activities (such as participating in Mountaineer Week) require active
membership status.
