Feel the beats...
DRum Circle now meets on the SECOND Saturday of each month.
If the weather holds the circle well meet on MAC’s front lawn, the only green space in downtown!
NEXT DRUM CIRCLE MEETINGs: Saturday, November 14, December 12, 2009
11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Why would someone want to participate?
Have you ever noticed what happens in a large audience when the applause continues for awhile? The group naturally, without conscience thought falls into rhythm with each other...this is called entrainment. When a group of people drum in complement rhythms together, this happens....it is a powerful and wonderful experience. Drumming is a great way to enjoy a sense of community. It reduces stress...you will feel better leaving than when you came. It allows free-form musical expression. It is empowering.
The group is founded with the ideals of a community drum circle:
· No experience necessary.....just come, have fun, and participate
· Children are welcome
· Dancing is welcome
· It is free (donations accepted to offset costs and build shared supply of instruments)
· Some instruments are available to borrow (but if you have one to bring or one to share, please do so)
What is a Community Drum Circle?
A Community Drum Circle is a group of people that come together in a circle to share in the fun that is enjoyed when people create music together that is "in the moment". This is NOT a class, and no experience is required. Children are welcome...and LOVE to drum. The music is improvised. There are no notes to read....everyone participates to the extent he or she feels comfortable.
The MAC Drum Circle meets at MAC the 2nd Saturday of every month from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
